It's a comic by Neil Gaiman, its won awards and !#%$.
I really don't know much about Nights, so the only similarity between these two things is probably that they're about dreamworlds.
The Sandman is about Dream of the Endless though it starts off pretty dark (being made at the end of the Dark Age of comics) after the first couple volumes it gets better. Dream is the personification of dreams, and his siblings are other personifications. He's held prisoner for 70 years and comes back to find that a lot has changed. Then, things happen. A key is owned. Monsters are set free. Dream and his sister look for their brother.
Mostly, stories are told.
It's pretty cool if you like dream worlds and imagery and such. Its also pretty cool if you like mythology as it weaves it own strewn with countless others.
That legitimately sounds interesting and I'll have to check it out sometime. Thanks for the heads up.
Oddly enough, there are similar elements planned for my comic as well, but from the sound of it, it's pretty different from what I think I'll have going.
