My ID is Falcon6x3. I got no online games yet, but hey, throw me an invite at your leisure.

Image Just a reminder for those that have a 3DS that you can have a Nintendo ID now, though Friend Codes are still in effect.

Wii U owners can link this up to share the account so that you no longer need to decide whether to put your eShop card on your 3DS or Wii U now.

My BattleTag is BaconSupreme#1251.

My Steam is this guy. Linked because I sometimes change my name for shiggles.

I just got my own Steam account. My tag is (surprise) Pikmanipulator.

EDIT: Er, no it's not, actually. It's metamo_star.

If I remember correctly, you might need to buy a game before you can accept gifts? Which isn't too much of a problem since some games are less than a dollar.

Image Guess there won't be much of a point for the Wii and DS codes come May 20th...

Mayhaps a title change is in order? Sure, 3DS still uses a code but...

Image Just a reminder: In a week's time (May 20th), the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection will be taken down due to GameSpy's services closing, so tags for Wii and DS games will be useless then. Any last minute things you want to do, do it now.

Image And now...it's down.

I hope everyone got the most out of Nintendo's WFC, because we can no longer use it, save for things like the store and browser (Poké-Transporter should be unaffected too).

Friend codes for Ninty titles are now officially useless here.

They weren't very useful to begin with since most of the games were laggy, but regardless, it is the end of an era.

Though apperantly some people figured out how to make dedicated servers for certain games like Smash Bros, but you have to erase your save data to use it.

I honestly don't get the point in doing this well before Smash 4's release. Though it is a shame since I missed out on a trade in 5th gen I intended to get around to (for a Regenerator Ho-oh) and cause I wanted to get some practice with a guy I know for Brawl.

McKnackus is right though, but hopefully this isn't really the case anymore. Especially because I still have yet to get around to beating Pokemon X and playing on Wifi, I've only done a few trades and the system works decently.

Oh no. This isn't entirely for Smash 4, though Smash was one of the biggest WFC communities. Mario Kart 8 comes out in a week. Mario Kart Wii's WFC community is hueg. Telling them all, "Yo. For real tho. Buy a Wii U and play the new one," will probably get a lot of units sold, even if Mario Kart 8 was going to sell a !#%$ already.

They probably run traffic analytics on the servers as well, and may have figured that the cost of keeping them up wasn't worth the number of people using them. IDK.

Image Now, keep in mind that this wasn't really an abrupt decision by Nintendo. It really all had to do with GameSpy shutting down. So that was a little out of their hands.

As an aside, I may have jumped the gun a bit. While first-party titles are definitely out, I have heard reports of certain third-party titles still going, perhaps due to them running on servers outside of GameSpy. I've heard reports of Goldeneye, Call of Duty, and even the Conduit 2 working, but I can't test this myself.

It isn't just Nintendo that used the service either. Certain games, like Borderlands and GTAIV, also used GameSpy and its closure has put those multiplayer experiences down as well.

Oddly enough, I apparently never added the 3DS code on here, so here.

2020-0158-5609

Nintendo Network is Falcon6x3, as well.

You actually did. It's just that DoM never updates the first post anymore.

I thought that Falcon, Raxy or elby edited the first post at some point actually, I just know DoM indeed doesn't update it anymore.

Image And this here is why I posted this confession so long ago. Almost tempted to restart with a brighter, better thread since I know people trust me to keep up to date, but I feel like that might be stepping on too many toes there.

Heck, I'm still waiting for the first post to get updated on this thread too. Goes to show not even our own moderators care to update, as FSLAR had thought.

You should get control honestly, a new thread or something with permission. Especially since you've tried to stir game activity before.

Heck, I'd be willing to restart the thread. I love being organized.

Of course, in the event that I disappear suddenly because of a new job or something, it's probably better left to B-Man, since he always has time for this place.

OOPS...

Yeah, I did update this in the past, but, then I kind of forgot that was a thing I did! I kind of forgot the MMO thread was a thing I started as well. SUCH IS LIFE.

That said, this thread's up to date now, at least.

EDIT: Then I made the MMO thread much tidier, and quickly realized B-Man and DoM are literally the only ones to have proper character lists or even so much as link their Armory page (or whatever equivalent other MMOs have), so !#%$ ALL Y'ALL (except those two).

Image That's better. Even all the useless Wii and DS codes are gone. Now we can all rest easy knowing everything is up to date.

I knew I recalled one of you three doing it! Good job elby, you have done us proud.

I don't think we'd have to really worry about updates for this thread, not for maybe a few months.
