Since I like the option of being both a Chekhov's Gun vendor and a purveyor of fine goods, let me know if you want the shop to actually have anything in specific. Don't be too outlandish like "HE HAS A KEY THAT WE'LL ROB" or "HE HAS SATAN THAT WE'LL ROB".

You know, basic stuff that you'd like to play around with later on or stuff that you think you'd need from a story standpoint, like the oranges.

I live to serve by the sea, you sea-ferrying !#%$.

shut up no one is jack

everyone sit down and learn something you !#%$ morons

Okay so, Mecha, the robot, is basically like, the original. He was ejected into 'the old world' where he tailored and cultivated life to a point where it could destroy itself, etc.

Before he was banished, he was a God like his sister, Mi, who is the goddess Mia that everyone keeps praising. There was this whole thing where there were things that were bad, and lots of Gods died, and Mecha was to blame for it, etc etc.

Maybe if anyone is actually interested in that part i'll go over that. Moving on.

After Mecha was captured, they split his soul up into 3 segments to severely weaken him. Soul splitting doesn't exactly work like math though; you can only really fragment a soul. So, basically there was Mecha, and then two way smaller chunks of his soul.

Then they banished him, and when he entered the world it was made viable for life, and he created beings to live on planets, etc etc.

What happened was, when he entered the world, he managed to keep ahold of one of the fragments of his soul. The other fragment was lost to the ages, and was 'passed down' through people. It invaded their bodies and made them basically incredible warriors, or great leaders, or whatever.

Fast forward to the current area, and Mecha is MIA, but we know he is still technically alive, because the Detective is here. The Detective is that soul piece manifesting itself in a body. If Mecha were completely gone, that soul fragment would not exist.

The other soul fragment has also been used, and when we get to that person then I guess I could explain it. If people want. Its pretty interesting. no one cares

But yes.

Mecha = Main Soul + Spirit (Chaos)
Detective Mecha = Normal Human Soul + Soul Fragment (Curiosity)
??? = ??? + Soul Fragment (Passion + Kindness) + ???

So while the Detective is TECHNICALLY Mecha, he is a completely different person, and they all have their own lives and emotions and etc.

The spirits are their own post too, when and if people are interested in knowing more about them.

look at this dumb !#%$, asking me to explain things I already explained. ALRIGHT HERE WE GO GUYS

Okay so, it starts with a subspecies. Anything that isn't human, but is humanoid, is considered a subspecies. All demons are also considered part of this group. Humans cannot be collared, it is impossible.

The actual event of collaring has been detailed in this post, but for falcon's poor brain capacity, I will go over how the process exactly works.

A subspecies that is considered to have 'sinned' is brought into the church. It doesn't matter what the sin was, it could even be for existing. They are locked into a hoisting mechanism, which raises them up to the Statue of Mia that exists in every Church. The Statue judges each soul, and determines if it is a subspecies or not. Then, if it is, it receives a collar.

There are actually several different kinds of collars, but the basic one is the one you would receive from the collaring ceremony. The different kinds of collars were created to control the slaves better, like during times of war, or other situations.

The most advanced collar to date is the SOTECH™ MK. I Slave Restraining System Regulator™. It gives the enslaved complete control over their emotions and feelings, and gives them the choice of free will and action. Really, the only function of the collar is to provide ownership, and some other built in features, like real-time "gps" and "messaging" among other things. The most the collar does is give the slave a heightened sense of loyalty, and slight suggestive impulses to follow orders.

After being collared for the first time, a slave will usually instantly be sold off. If they cannot be sold, they will be brought to an island off the coast of the main church island, where they are held like cattle in massive 'barns' until the Church can find a use for them. Their lives frequently end in these holding areas.

If they are lucky, then they will be equipped with a different collar. Generally, it will be a War collar, or a specific Work collar, like Merchant, or Smithing. These collars implant basic blueprints into their minds, and they follow them mindlessly. Their work is generally acceptable, if barely. For instance, a Slave brewery exists, but the Ale they produce is merely decent, and is sold at an incredibly low price to make up for that fact.

The SOTECH™ slaves are the most rare, only numbering in the hundreds because of how unique the collar is. It only works for people who actually are willing to be accepted into the program.

The key system is pretty basic for any collar except the SOTECH™ collars. A simple key is created out of the wearer's soul, and is kept hidden away 'somewhere.' Uncollaring your own slave is considered an act of treason, and is met with death with no trial.

The SOTECH™ key is way more complicated than that. The two keys that are created do not contain the wearer's soul, but are just simple keys. The unique part comes in the massive, spiral lock that seems to vanish into the slave's body. Which doesn't make sense in the first place, with how thin the actual collar is. The key for that lock is hidden deep in the Church, and is a massive rotating screw-like key that is inserted into the back of their neck. The key is 14 feet long, and the unlocking takes up to 3 hours as the key rotates slowly to avoid breaking any of the fragile metal parts. The key is slowly inserted all the way, all 14 feet vanishing into the collar somehow.

No SOTECH™ MK. I Slave Restraining System Regulator™ has been unlocked yet.

Gee Miharu sure was super wanted. Does just practicing magic make you worth tons of monies? What did she do to be worth all the bells?

And what's all this about the Church having its own form of magic now that's just silly.

Miharu was considered an enemy to all mankind for things she never did, but couldn't disprove. A lot of massive monsters did huge damage to islands and trade ships, and Miharu always was the one who went out of her way to strike them down. But, no one ever saw her beat them, all they ever saw was her.

So, people started (incorrectly) putting two and two together, and eventually she became a huge person of interest. The last huge appearance was when she caused a huge grouping of dragons to disperse from a large group of Church slave ships, only to be spotted flying over the burning ships.

Her bounty jumped from five hundred thousand gold to a ridiculous number that day.

-

The Church started confiscating magic and outlawing the practice of traditional magic after they realized just how powerful it really was. They didn't want people to realize that, even though magic was hard to learn, traditional magic was far easier to use than any alchemy.

Not ones to shove their own heads completely up their own asses, they worked with some of their in-house wizards, and developed Magic Syllables. What they are is little bands with preset spells that a user will wear on their wrists. When that spell is needed, they just read the words off of the band, and that particular spell will be cast. They are incredibly dulled, significantly weakened forms of magic that are very popular because of their ease. The Church gets a large amount of money from their sales.

Real magic users are few and far between now, because of the lack of magic books and material. Artifact Enchanting is another form of this magic, where a powerful magician will enchant a treasure for the user to use with a preset phrase. Just like the bands, but it's more powerful because it's created with one person in mind, and not a mass market.

magic is the stuff dreams are made out of, and little kids get to wish for candy before they go to bed or whatever

In reality, magic is based off of different things, but usually generates from the Planet itself, and the forces that inhabit it. Water, fire, earth, wind, all the usual captain planet !#%$. There's even one for HEART.

Magic comes in different varieties, so lets go down the list

There's Old Magic, magic that existed when the world was created. This is the magic that Miharu used, and the magic that is now forbidden to learn and teach. This is also the same magic that the Kid is learning. Old Magic is the most potent and dangerous form of magic, simply because of how hard it is to master. But, there isn't really a limit to what you can do with it, so it's the best one to learn.

The Church's rip-off, which I just explained.

Dancing Magic was based off of Old Magic, but is cast through the body. Emotions, sensations, traditions. This is what powers the Dance. There are limits to what you can do with Dance magic, but it is also easier to cast in a group with it. There isn't any chanting of spells needed. Just dancing. As an aside, its actually very common for the Dancers to generally only be women, but there are several exceptions.

Dragon Magic, which isn't really magic at all, but more of a song. Dragon Magic is considered the most powerful, but the most limited, seeing as only dragons can cast it. No one really knows what moves the forces behind the song.

And lastly, Artifact Magic. Basically, items that lay around magic sources for long enough pick up a magical charge, and a random magic effect. Kinda boring, but whatever, it exists and I need to document it so no one calls me out later.

No, actually. The spell on the door would have prevented Cas from just exploding it. Cas' curse only worked because the magic was broken by the keys being used.

the more you know.

To begin to understand the situation with Violet/Pride, you need to understand the Spirits. In another dimension exists a pocket in space called the Heart. This is the location where the Gods of the old world grew up, were trained, keep an eye on the worlds, etc. Before the Heart existed, the universe was nothing. The Spirits existed in the nothing, as a race of beings beyond our comprehension. No one can really say if they exist on another plane, or if they are simply just beyond the need for a corporal form.

The Spirits were fighting a war with...something. Something they couldn't beat. Maybe it was each other, maybe it was something even beyond them. All we know is, they decided to create a haven for themselves, somewhere they could hide and wait to be reborn. Before they hid themselves on this plane, they created the first Gods, creatures that could tend to them while they were in hiding. When they joined this plane, there were several hundred of them, stored in small orbs. The orbs were covered in intricate patterns, the patterns being how they spelled their names.

The Gods that were supposed to tend to the orbs consisted of two basic main races. The humanoids, the Gods that had emotions and souls. And, the machines, the emotionless drones that could choose what they wanted to do, but had no souls. The humans tricked the machines into doing all the real work, tricked them into taking care of the orbs while they pissed around being happy and free. The stupid part of the deal that backfired on them was, they gave the machines the power to craft souls, so that they wouldn't have to do that.

So, eventually some idiot robot moron accidentally crafted an imperfect soul, and to avoid anyone getting upset about it, he hid it in himself. Which gave him emotions and blah blah etc. The machines copied this imperfect soul and they all took it into themselves. The imperfection being that that the machines could now breed and create new life. SO, now we have a bunch of horny robots and a bunch of lazy humans.

Which, leaves the Orbs. Since no one was tending to them anymore, they started falling apart. Starting with the weaker Spirits, until eventually there were only a few left. Fourteen, to be precise. After the Gods stopped fighting among themselves, they started caring for the Orbs again, but they couldn't even remember why they did. Couldn't even remember what the Orbs were. It took a specific set of events involving two siblings to remind everyone how dangerous it was for the Spirits to be released.

In any case. The Spirits that are still alive are, in order of power: Destruction, Chaos, Order, Honor(Pride), and some others that don't matter because they aren't involved in the story. Destruction isn't in the story either, but he has been mentioned several times as being the Leader of the Spirits, and the one who decided to go into hiding in the first place.

The Spirits cannot survive on this plane without being in their orbs. If they are out of a host or the orb for more than 3 days, their physical manifestation, which is that shadowy thing, will warp their orb to that spot. Then, after a few years of no one caring for it, it breaks apart and the Spirit inside is destroyed. Forcefully pulling a Spirit out of a person is incredibly dangerous for the Host, and can kill them. There are ways to safely remove the Spirit, one of which we've just seen, AKA Sunny blasting it with light. But, that was just a temporary solution.

Violet is Mecha's daughter sort of. He created her in the same facility where he created a bunch of other Projects. More on the projects if other people even want to read about that. She was in the Heart during an event, and fell into the Cleaning pool, where the Gods take care of the Spirits and reinvigorate the Orbs to survive longer. Honor(Pride) was in the pool at the time, and managed to escape into her body. It was an incredible coincidence, because Spirits can only invade bodies of the same gender, and only people with strong enough minds.

For a while, Violet was business as usual. Pride whispered some things in her mind, and gave her more powers. But, the general rule is, as long as the Host isn't in mortal peril, the Spirit can't take control of the body without the Host's consent. So, Pride waited and waited, and eventually the world change happened, and everything changed. Using a loophole, Pride was able to take control using the logic that because Mi wanted to kill all the remaining people from the old world, Violet was always in mortal peril.

So, Violet lost control of her body, and was forced to watch Pride destroy so much !#%$, and fast forward to now. That's about it, really. The same situation wouldn't happen to Mecha, who has the Spirit Chaos in him, because him and Chaos are actually Bros, and Mecha lets him take over whenever because Chaos is actually really smart and tends to make great decisions. Mecha, being someone who can create because he used to be a God of Creation, can also create a physical body for Chaos to wander around in. So, they tend to be on good terms. Mi and Order are also on good terms, because they're both !#%$.

i think i got everything?

Basic is the langauge that most people speak. Humans forced it on everyone because most humans are too lazy to learn any other language.

Beast was created by the beasts, and consists of emotions and feelings, a very fluid language with a lot of hand movements and such. Beast also has different tones to it, depending on the person speaking. Beast is considered a very beautiful language, and a lot of people are entranced by it. The Beast Language is considered primitive though, because it consists of a lot of deep, throaty sounds and short syllables.

Dragon is pretty obvious, developed by dragons, etc. Speaking dragon and casting dragon spells are two completely different things. Generally, the only race that can speak dragon is dragons, but there are special cases. Sunny, for example, can speak it because her race spent a lot of time trading with the dragons, and she got plenty of free time to learn to bend her tongue to do the more odd sounds in the language.

There is also Eastern, a delicate, traditional language. And Northern, a rough, strong language. Since the south is Beast Territory, everyone who lives in the further reaches of the southern areas speaks beast, regardless of if they are beast or not. And Western is all Basic for the most part.

Then, there is the Ancient Tongue. Caitlin, Sunny, Cas, Sota, Violet, Miharu, etc. People from a VERY long time ago, before this world was even this world, had their own language. Sunny learned it from her mother, who learned it from her mother, who etc etc. The Ancient Tongue is considered dead, and is never heard of. However, magic is somewhat tied to it, some of the most powerful spells use the tongue. When someone hears someone else speaking in the Ancient Tongue, they usually just consider them a magic user casting a spell of sorts, or discussing spells or something.

To understand how Jerry's magic brewin' works, we first have to understand a few things about trolls.

They are very skilled craftsmen. If you somehow got a troll to work for your ship, you can bet their work load will be high in quality.

Another thing you have to know about trolls is that, unlike the other beast races, they are both involved and uninvolved to the human race. Like most beast races, they are highly secretive and rarely see non-trolls appear in their culture save for some special events. However, as stated before, they are highly adept in their craftsmanship, which makes trolls highly sought after for being part of a crew even though they are, by definition, a subspecies. Humans will look the other way when it comes to the troll race simply due to the fact that they are cheaper, they don't complain, and they are insanely gifted in their specialization.
This is, of course, not always the case. They face the same persecution as the other beast races which sometimes includes being shunned out of communities, and they are collared by the church many times, as well. However, due to their willingness to work for cheap and no qualms with the affairs of humies, the trolls tend to be one of the least-collared beast races.

One last thing to know about trolls is that they enjoy beer. A lot. Brewing is considered one of their highest cultural professions. The brew they make is more akin to religious consumption than the brew a human or other beast makes, due to connections with Y'manzo, one of their deities. Long story short, he loved beer, so the trolls love beer. That's the founding of their religion.

Brewing in the troll culture is only partly alchemical. They utilize beer for pleasure, as most cultures. However, they also use it for medicine. "Fer da fever dat ails ya, we gonna ales ya." The beer is actually highly potent in both aspects, allowing for both excellent healing power as well as the ability to get drunk off your ass. It's actually rather close to alchemy in the medical aspect. It just has the added benefit of pleasure as well.

This makes troll culture incredibly laid back, which is kind of a weird combination to their insane work ethic.

...

Okay, so they like beer, they work hard to do !#%$, and they're more open to humie relations than most beasts. How does all of that fit in for Jerdinjin, good ol' Jerry? WELL. I'll just come out and say it: Jerry's a Mage. Specifically, he trains as a pyromancer and a spectremancer. Obviously, a pyromancer is someone who can use fire magic. However, a spectremancer is a mage who has learned how to manipulate the soul and has mastered spirit magic. By manipulating the soul, they manipulate the will and consciousness of that person. This usually comes in the form of high-level mind control or even soul extraction.

So how does he do it?

Some magic requires ingredients. That's where his brewing comes in. After many years of training in the art of becoming a true brewmaster, a position of honor in the culture, Jerry developed many brews for his magic. They combine the warm and pleasant experience of a fine brew with the ingredients needed for his spells, in a way that makes the latter almost indistinguishable. This allows him unique abilities such as fire-breathing when he drinks an ale on his person.
The most infamous brew of them all is the Serpent Sarsaparilla. You see, for trolls, their magic tends to reference animals in certain ways. With this in mind, Jerry named the drink with reference to the hydra, due to his magic being represented with many snake heads being thrown from his body. Most soul manipulation magic requires some sort of reference of the person like a strand of hair, so by drinking the Serpent Sarsaparilla, the individual is essentially doing the hard work for him.

In most cases, the brew's effects wear off and the user is unaware of being controlled or what occurred since. Of course, that isn't always the case, as you can see with Ken.

SO
TL;DR -- When you drink some brews from Jerry, you drink what he needs for his spectremancer powers. Brewing in the troll culture is like alchemy for humans, but not entirely. Jerry can breathe fire when he drinks one brew.

Also, they only have the accent because Yokuba and I enjoy it so much.

For the record: I'm out of the RP until further notice and Elby has control of my character, Alicia, until then.

Though, you probably already knew that.
