I finally got around to completing an animation assigment.

The first image is the completed sequence, while the second is what I had sent in for the assigment. The class itself wasn't super focused on high quality animation and was looking more at the technical aspects of movement, seeing as the class at that time was aimed more at game development. But I went into it for the artistic aspect to see how flash worked and how to make frame by frame animation work, and I'm very happy with how it turned out as both an assignment and a completed sequence.

Granted it is fairly sloppy. I didn't quite have all the organization down and am still learning flash, which is not really a drawing program in the slightest, so I would've liked it to be cleaner, but I'm still very happy with it.

Comments and critiques are welcome.

I for one think it's very well done, and amusing to boot. Kudos.

smoother than anything i could do
i couldn't draw a walk cycle to save my life and i actively tried to avoid showing anything below the belt in my animation and it really showed in the last scene

Yeah, lower body is tough. Gotta deal with torso and leg movement and it's just a pain.

Started messing around again in flash.

This one's a simple animation and I didn't really have much in mind while making it so this is basically just an animated color sketch. It's not really consistent but I had fun making it, especially trying out liquid physics.

Also, it's a

I'm back at it!

Things have been hectic the last month or so, but I'm trying to finish an incomplete entry to an animation competition from 11SecondClub.com. I've gotten a chuck of it done but have to finish the inbetweens on the walk cycle, the movements on the woman, and the all-important lip syncing. Not sure how it'll turn out since this is my first time attempting lip syncing, but I'm sure to learn something.

You'll need Quicktime Player to watch it there. I'll just upload it to vimeo.

Oh, yeah, I had similar issues, so it's nice to see it now. Yeah, definitely looks pretty good so far. I especially like the smoothness of the man's animation when getting up, and his hand gestures at the door.

yeah that was pretty nice. the expressions seemed kinda stiff but i imagine those are harder to animate?

Right now the faces are just part of the key poses so they haven't really been animated yet. They're just supposed to convey what emotion they'll have and when they will change to the next expression. I really wanted to get the body acting down before tackling the facial animation. But yes, they are extremely hard to animate.
