Late but here we go

Day 3

DoM - Very nice self portrait. you got the shading down pretty well and it's great to see you doing realism. Also, dat mustache.

Elby - I've never played Dark Souls but it reminds me of those weird blob things from Zelda. I also like the detail going on here. The lizard is pretty good too. :D

Falcon - your hands are improving a lot. This one is very well done and is showing the shapes of the hand much better. The hair on the first head is a little wonky because the direction of the hair changes so drastically from the top of the head to the sides. he other two hair styles are very nice and flow very well. I especially like the short hair one with the pointy hair aimed down and still being detailed.

Day 4

DoM - very nice poses! The first one is kinda stiff looking. I agree that the second one is better. Looks like a dynamic action pose. Great job!

Falcon - The first hairstyle is pretty good. Looks messy, kinda like a hippie look. The second one is more stylized but I don't think it works well. There's flow to it but I can't imagine how you could make hair look like that realistically. Gendou looks pretty good though his right jawbone is rounder than his left. Big haired elvis guy looks pretty alright although the hair on the side looks like it'd be pretty bad looking from any other angle, The last hairstyle is pretty alright minus what looks to be a bald spot. Overall nice job! :D

I lack comment at how a page could have so much on it and yet nothing of worth.

I like the hair you drew at the top right.

Also, I didn't do a DD for today. I'll probably do something tomorrow

This is the least eventful DD.

Image I gave my reasoning for not participating online, but for those not around;
I hate posting WIPs like this. Don't get me wrong: It's a fantastic exercise to help you improve. I just don't like to show off structures and shapes as it just feels incomplete. Granted, that's the point, but I never liked showing off anything I didn't deem at least somewhat "done."

That's why I got so horribly stressed out last time: Because I forced myself to do the images until I felt they were "done." Essentially, reading Falc's guidelines just told me "Welp, this isn't for me anymore" and opted not to participate this year. He meant well, but it's just not for me.

You all have fun, though. You've got some nice sketching going on here!

I don't really think this is so much about showing anything off as it is getting pointers on how to improve your artistic process. I had a similar problem with this Daily Draw in that I enjoy having more completed works and I love the process from start to finish, but there is a lot of valuable criticism and tips you can get from people when you pull back the curtain and show off the bones of the drawing. People can better identify problem areas in your art and give you more specified pointers on how to improve it so your final product is that much better.

What I had to figure out is that I'm not a professional, and I shouldn't act like I am. I'm not saying you are, but I always used to show only finished products as well. My art is not good enough to manage as a viable portfolio and even if I had one there's no reason to not post some sketches in other places. It wasn't until I met up with many more developed artists (many of them professionals) that I realized my process needed serious work and that I wouldn't be able to improve at any sizable rate by keeping people in the dark about how I draw, and it's really helped to have people break down my drawings and let me know where I went wrong.

I'm not saying you have to be involved at any point in this daily draw. After all, it is a self-imposed challenge, so it's entirely up to you. But if you ever feel like wanting to improve your art, I highly recommend pulling back the curtain every now and again to show the process and to take any criticisms to heart if and when you do. :)

My goal of being able to draw something someone else drew continues to elude me.

I know, pose is clearly ripped off and it's bad form, but I wanted to see if I could draw it. Survey says "no". Ah, well!

I also wanted to draw on the tablet to see badly I do. Surprisingly did better than I thought.

I think what really eludes me is the ability to be confident with the tablet and the pencil and everything ever. That's kind of what I'm attempting to go for now and what I'm going to strive to do for the rest of the time. I know I say this after detracting myself because the Batman I drew isn't that bad, but hey, I got to keep it real.

#7 - Quick Anatomy Study

I don't normally like to trace, but it is very helpful in finding the base shapes of a person or character.

Wasn't able to draw anything, unfortunately.

However, I did find some nice stuff over the past day or so.

Foreshortening technique using coils. This surprisingly works in some respects and if you had some problems drawing foreshortened stuff, especially arms and legs, it could maybe work out.
Actually, just look at everything from this guy. He's got a LOT of drawing videos and it's pretty in-depth and helpful.

Character Design. Pinterest is an interesting site. This one in particular has a bunch of albums on character design and stuff, with a bunch of tutorials sprinkled in. A bunch. If that ends up being something of interest, this is a LOT of information about that.

Also to answer MK1's question from the first day, I usually freehand my drawings, so what you see is what it is, and only occasionally will there be simple shapes. I dunno, I just find it easier to do it this way!

oh okay. I used to do things that way, but I didn't have quite the grasp on poses and shapes as you do, so I switched it up. Nice job! :D

Admittedly, unfinished but it's better to post what I did than nothing, RIGHT???
Rather than pen and ink, this is a sketch done entirely with a standard fine point black sharpie.

I don't think the Batman's hipster enough.

Think I put too much emphasis on everything instead of focus on learning a single thing. Gonna focus on eyes or something tomorrow.

Falcon: I definitely gotta say I'm seeing improvement compared to just day 1. That hand is looking pretty good.

DOM: You already know how to draw and I don't really know what else to say???

MK1: I love the cartoony rounded style you've got going. I'd imagine given the time you could make a pretty smooth animation with any of these faces.
