Yes, this is so small that it may be insignificant for broadcast upon even this site, a site that has had fewer updates than the news story saying "Mice Like Cheese."

I am in the process of thinking up ideas for the beginning layouts for a tentative design change for the site. When I say it like that, you KNOW I won't have this up for quite a while. Because of this and the revamping project I'm having with the comic, it could be quite a few more weeks before another update on the actual comic archive.

Be that as it may, I'm planning on making small comics and art updates for the heck of it on my DeviantART account. This is mostly because I don't have a place for them on this site...yet.

So, this small newspost...what does this mean? Two things: (1) New design for the site will come with the new comic and (2) side comics will exist on this site. Whether that means I'll actually do "mini comics" that will update on some sort of schedule like the mini comics on other sites or actual comics that update on the side while the actual story is progressing remains to be seen.

The new comic, by the way, will be separate from the old comics shown now. We'll still have the old comics, but the main archive will basically reboot for the new comic. We'll also have a new archive for the side comics, too.

No word on what the heck I'm going to do with the supposed side-comics. All I do know is, if it does what I hope, then I won't lose my desire to do these comics anymore.

Breaking news: Mice still like cheese.

As far as the side comics go, my suggestion is to have them just be gag comics involving your characters, like the olden days. :D

I also suggest you should maybe try something different for the style. Perhaps just black and white (greys only used for shading and details when it's needed). The thing about B&W comics is that it challenges you to make the characters look distinct without color, but given your characters, there's a low chance of people mixing up the characters.

This also means no coloring, which means you can do them quicker.

If not that, then you could go sprite comics for them, but I'd suggest using it as testing grounds for a simpler style. ;)

Eh, I'd rather not do something that everyone else does with their side comics. Grey, black and white..all of that is possible, but I'd rather not be constrained to that one style, get me?

And I'd definitely not want to go back to sprite comics if I could help that.

I would use the side comic on three conditions: I'm bored and I made a random comic for no reason, I know that it'll take a while before the actual comic gets done, or I go with Krazeh's idea and only update if I have a lot of comics on backlog. It would be a sporadic update schedule.

That would work. I was just noting that since it is a side comic, you probably won't need to put your full effort into special effects and whatnot, or you could use some sort of simple art style. I was just using the B&W comics as an example.

And the sporadic update schedule sounds good. I think it's better for a comic to not promise a set schedule and update a few times, rather than a comic that promises a set schedule and not follow it. To quote a ComicDish suggestion, "don't promise a schedule if you can't keep it." That way you won't have people on your back as much. ;)
